Tugwell Creek Meadery is the first Meadery in western Canada. Mead maker and beekeeper Bob Liptrot has been keeping bees since the age of 6 and making mead for over 40 years. Growing up in Vancouver, he dreamed of owning a farm and meadery. After meeting partner Dana LeComte they moved to Sooke to realize their dream. There is a tasting window and ocean view patio open Fri-Sun 12-5pm in summer and Sat- Sun 12-5pm in winter.
Bob is an entomologist and teaches beekeeping through Royal Roads University. The farm is used as a sanctuary for pollinators. No pesticides are sprayed and everything planted is in consideration of feeding the bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds that frequent the farm. All of our meads are made from fruit grown here on the farm and with either our own honey from the mountains around Sooke or honey from local beekeepers we know well.
